Training Your Dog
If you start training your dog right away learning will happen quickly. One of the first things we always want to do is to train the dog to relieve itself outdoors and not in the house.
It is not difficult to do this if you are willing put time and attention into the task. Like children, pets respond best with positive reinforcement of good behaviors.
Pay attention to the times each day your puppy typically relieves itself. Make sure you take the puppy outside at those times and when the puppy does it's business, enthusiastically praise it. Puppies have tiny bladders, so always be sure to wake early and let the puppy out early in the morning.
When accidents happen inside the house, let the puppy know you are dissapointed. When caught in the act, say a firm "NO" and take the puppy outside. Make this extra effort and you will be rewards with a dog who will not spoil your home.
